The story
The Jhelum rises at Verinag in Kashmir, runs through Srinagar, and becomes one of the five rivers that gave Punjab its name.
Varun and Khushboo took a less direct route. A line or two about how you met goes here.
This January, a family that argues about saunf in rogan josh sits down with one that argues about butter in everything. We’d love you there.

7 pm onwards
The henna night
In Kashmiri homes, the women of the family sing wanwun, traditional call-and-response songs, while henna is applied. We’ll have Punjabi boliyan and a dhol too, so there will be plenty of music.
11 am onwards
Blessings around the sacred fire
A Kashmiri Pandit ceremony held around the sacred fire, where the family prays for the couple and asks for the gods’ blessings before the wedding.
7 pm onwards
Drinks, dinner and dancing
An evening of drinks, dinner and dancing with both families, the night before the wedding.
12 noon onwards
Turmeric and blessings
Family and friends take turns applying turmeric paste to the couple, a tradition meant to bless them and give them a glow before the wedding. Expect a little mess and a lot of laughter.
5:30 pm
For Varun’s family and friends
Varun’s family ties the sehra, a veil of flowers and strings, onto his safa and gives him their blessings before the baraat sets off.
Baraat at 7 pm
The wedding
The baraat arrives with the dhol. At the milni, the elders of both families greet each other and exchange garlands. Then come the pheras around the sacred fire, followed by posh puja, a Kashmiri tradition where everyone showers the couple with flowers.

Each ceremony has a note above. In short: colour is encouraged, pherans and phulkaris are both welcome, and wear something washable to the haldi.
We are holding a block of rooms for guests travelling in. Booking details will be shared with your invitation.
Delhi airport (DEL) has the most flights. The new Noida International Airport at Jewar (DXN) opened for domestic flights in June 2026 and is usually the shorter drive to both venues.
Take the DND Flyway into Noida, then the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway. It brings you out close to both venues.
The celebrations are split between Grand Heritage and Stellar Gymkhana, a short drive apart. See Getting there for maps and directions. Transport details will be shared closer to the date.
No registry. Your blessings are plenty. If you would like to give something, a shagun envelope is traditional and entirely optional.
Contact numbers for someone from each family will be shared closer to the date.
Your reply
Please reply by 31 December 2026 so both families can plan the food, which is a serious undertaking.
